Lithuanian Maritime Academy (LMA) is a state institution of higher education training highly qualified seafarers and other specialists for the Maritime Industry.
LMA was established in 1948 as Klaipėda Maritime School for maritime industry; in 1996 it was renamed as Klaipėda Higher Maritime School; in 1998 – Klaipėda University Maritime Institute College. In 2001 in the course of the national reform of higher education reorganized into Lithuanian Maritime College, in 2008 – renamed as Lithuanian Maritime Academy (Lietuvos aukštoji jūreivystės mokykla). LMA founded by the Government of the republic of Lithuania.
LMA provides maritime education in the following study programmes:
- Marine Navigation,
- Marine Engineering,
- Port and Shipping Management,
- Finances of Port and Shipping Companies.
